The detention center population can be viewed through the live sheriff roster, but the live count is not the same as rated capacity or average daily population. On May 27, 2026, the current roster count observed in research was 87, while the 48-hour release roster count was 6. A prior inspection showed a different current count, which confirms the list changes as bookings and releases are processed.

Visitation is video only through InmateSales. The detention page says visits are available seven days a week and that users must create an account and appointment online. Officers cannot schedule visits for the public. Cherokee Detention Mail and Money

Personal mail for inmates is not sent straight to the jail. Classification and housing details are not displayed on the public roster. The inspected sample profile also did not show housing unit, court date, warrant number, or projected release date. The profile note is important because it says charges and bail amounts may change after court appearances and may not be current. Bond companies and people posting bail are told to contact detention staff for correct bail amounts, charges, and case numbers.

Work release is the main current program published for the facility. It is limited to inmates with non-violent histories and requires approval by the presiding judge and jail staff. Cherokee Detention Center Directions

The detention center is at 110 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre. The sheriff FAQ says the Sheriff's Office is directly behind the Cherokee County Courthouse. The Circuit Clerk lists the courthouse at 373 East Main Street, Suite 102, Centre, AL 35960, which helps visitors orient to downtown Centre before finding the law-enforcement campus. From U.S. 411 or Main Street, route toward the courthouse area and then to Cedar Bluff Road.

Official pages do not publish a visitor parking map, overflow lot instructions, public transit route, ADA entry route, or public lobby map.
